Working through the canvas
Working through the Strategy Model Canvas is an activity that a leadership team can do during a one or two-day strategy session, common in annual strategic off-sites. Since a strategy does not need to be revisited every year, it is an activity that can be added to leadership sessions and briefly reviewed for accuracy or environmental changes annually.
First, identify your strategic direction, and who that direction is intended for. Then, determine the strategic approach your company will take, and identify any core capabilities you have or need to have to accomplish this. Assess your current strategic position, and identify any risks or constraints associated with this trajectory. Identify any success measures you can monitor to affirm your new direction.
From this, your leadership team will be able to write a strategy statement that can be used as a governing message for any goals and objectives in the coming years.
